The SSI Dive Guide Course at XR Explorers isn’t just about getting a professional certification card—it’s about becoming a true ambassador for safe, team-oriented diving.

As the first tier of the SSI Professional program, this course is designed to transition you from a recreational diver to a competent, confident leader capable of organizing and guiding certified divers in any environment.

The XR Explorers Standard: DIR Exclusive

This is a leadership course you won’t find anywhere else. It is created and taught exclusively utilizing the DIR (Doing It Right) philosophy. At XR Explorers, DIR isn’t optional—it is the foundation of every dive we make. We build leaders who demonstrate precise buoyancy, perfect horizontal trim, and disciplined team protocols.

To support this high standard of safety and physiological awareness, all your training dives will be conducted using Nitrox 32% gas, and your tuition covers all boat and pool access fees.

Expect Rigorous Training

We are completely honest about our standards: We do not certify guides who meet the bare minimum. This is not a quick "zero to hero" vacation course. You will spend at least 10 to 14 intensive days with us (often extending to a month depending on weather conditions and your personal skill mastery).

• Intense Theory: Deep dives into leadership psychology, group management, and complex dive planning.
• In-Water Mastery: A rigorous schedule requiring a minimum of 30 training dives and 25 hours of deliberate in-water practice.
• The Result: You will not just "pass"; you will earn the profound respect of your peers and the right to lead.

Real-World Experience: The Shadow & Assist Program

Earning your certification is just the beginning. We want you to be the best professional possible. Graduates of our Dive Guide/Divemaster program gain exclusive access to the XR Explorers Shadow & Assist Program.

After certification, you are welcome to join our instructors to shadow and assist on any class you are certified in—completely free of charge. You only pay for your personal logistical expenses during these dives (gases, pool, and boat access). It is an unparalleled opportunity to build real-world teaching experience, log hours, and refine your professional skills under the guidance of our senior team.

The Pathway to Divemaster Status

Upon successful completion of this program, you will earn the SSI Dive Guide certification. However, the journey doesn't stop there.

• Upgrade to Divemaster: By combining this course with the Science of Diving specialty (and reaching 60 logged dives), you are automatically upgraded to the prestigious rank of SSI Divemaster. This opens the door to becoming an Assistant Instructor and taking your first steps into Technical Diving.
