The SSI Extended Range Nitrox Course at XR Explorers is where true technical diving begins. This isn’t just about going deeper—it’s about learning to dive with precision, control, and a fanatical focus on safety and teamwork.
You’ll be trained by instructors who have spent years diving in caves, on expeditions, and exploring deep environments. We bring that real-world experience to every session, giving you the mindset needed to become a highly competent technical diver.
The Mission: Accelerated Decompression
In this course, you will cross the line beyond recreational no-decompression limits (NDL). You will learn to:

Go Deeper: Plan and execute dives safely to 40 meters (130 feet).

Accelerate Deco: Use a Stage Cylinder containing up to 100% Oxygen to significantly shorten your in-water decompression obligations.

Manage Gas: Master advanced protocols like the "Rule of Thirds" and "Rock Bottom" gas planning.
Configuration & Standards (DIR)
We only teach in a DIR (Doing It Right) configuration to ensure streamlined, efficient, and safe diving practices. This course isn’t just a stepping stone; it’s where you build the elite habits that will serve you in Trimix, CCR, and Cave Diving programs later.

Sidemount: Note: You must already be certified as an XR Sidemount Diver to take this course in a sidemount configuration.
⚠️ Mandatory Pre-Course Check Dive
Technical diving requires absolute precision in the water. To ensure your success and safety, a mandatory Check Dive is required before enrollment to verify your fundamental buoyancy and trim skills.
Waiver Exception: If you have completed the SSI Extended Range Foundations or any GUE class with XR Explorers, we already know the caliber of your skills. The check dive is automatically waived for you!
