GUE’s Advanced Open Water (Recreational Diver Level 2) course is designed to prepare divers for deeper, more demanding recreational diving. While most agencies treat "Advanced" training as a few simple experience dives, GUE treats it as a serious transformation. Successful completion of this course will allow you to confidently explore thousands of deeper wrecks and reefs with the mental capacity to handle emergencies, navigate complex paths, and eliminate narcosis.

If you feel your current ability to navigate falls short, you want to be fully prepared to help other divers in an emergency, or you’d like to drastically decrease your dependency on dive guides, then this is the course for you. It is aimed at divers who want the "Total Package" rather than taking three separate Primers, and is a vital stepping stone for those preparing for GUE Master Diver or Cave 1.

What You Will Master (The Trinity)

This course consists of three essential GUE skill sets combined into one seamless curriculum:

1. Navigation: You will learn to use a Primary Light for signaling, execute complex compass patterns in conjunction with natural navigation, and use a spool to lay a guideline. This opens up your diving options to include safely executing Night and Low Visibility dives. Performance Divers will also learn how to perfectly deploy an SMB.
2. Rescue: You will build on what you have learned by practicing search patterns for emergency management. From surfacing an unconscious diver to managing a panic scenario on the surface, you will learn to save a teammate without endangering yourself.
3. Deep Diving: Done using Nitrox 32% (or Triox 30/30), you will learn how breathing gas affects you at depth, how to plan deeper dives up to 30 meters (100 ft), and how to ascend and descend while maintaining absolute control.
