Discover DIR: Learn the right way of Diving
This isn’t your typical intro session. XR Explorers’ Discover DIR is built for divers who want more than just a try-dive. This is your chance to experience the exact gear, mindset, and training system used by some of the most capable divers in the world — and we’re bringing it to Kuwait and to you.
You’ll get hands-on with Halcyon equipment to try it and be introduced to the full DIR (Doing It Right) diving philosophy — how we dive, why we dive this way, and why we teach it exclusively at XR Explorers. You’ll learn the principles behind Unified Team Protocols, Equipment Standardization, Team Awareness, and Streamlined Configurations — then dive in and experience it for yourself.
We’ll walk you through proper DIR equipment setup and fitting — including backplate and wing, long hose routing, and single tank or twinset (double tank) diving. You'll learn how correct trim, weighting, and buoyancy control allow you to glide effortlessly through the water. You'll also practice frog kick and flutter kick techniques and experience just how much more stable, efficient, and balanced you feel in this setup — especially compared to the standard jacket BCD configuration.
In-water, you'll train on the DIR Basic Five skills: regulator clear, regulator switch, long hose deployment, mask clear, and mask recovery. These are the foundations of confident, clean, and controlled diving — and you’ll quickly feel the difference.
The full day includes a detailed gear briefing, a focused training dive, and a post-dive debrief — all led by a GUE & SSI-certified instructor who dives this system daily.

What is Discover DIR?
Discover DIR is a one-day hands-on experience that introduces you to the DIR (Doing It Right) diving system. You'll get to dive using a full backplate and wing setup, practice long hose management, and learn the core principles that make DIR the standard for precision, safety, and team diving.
Is this a certification course?
No. Discover DIR is not a certification — it’s a tryout workshop. You’ll get expert guidance and in-water coaching from an SSI & GUE-certified instructor to help you understand the philosophy, gear, and techniques behind the DIR system.
Can I choose between single tank and double tank setups?
Yes. You can choose to try Discover DIR in either a single tank or a double tank configuration, depending on your experience level and comfort.
Do I need to have advanced diving experience to join?
No. If you’re already Open Water certified and comfortable in the water, you can join. This experience is designed to introduce the DIR system in a clear, accessible way — with no pressure and full support.
What gear is included?
We provide full DIR-configured Halcyon gear, including backplate and wing, long hose regulator setup, and additional accessories. You just need to bring your basic dive essentials (mask, fins, wetsuit), if you don't have them, we can provide full gear setup. Just let us know in advance.
How long is the experience?
Expect a full day including briefing, equipment setup, in-water session, and post-dive debrief. We take the time to make sure you learn, practice, and ask questions.
Do I need to bring anything?
Bring your certification card, dive essentials (mask, fins, exposure suit), and a good attitude. We’ll take care of the rest.
