Maximize Your Dive Time.

The SSI Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx) course is widely considered the most important specialty a diver can take. It is designed to safely extend your bottom time, shorten your surface intervals, and significantly reduce post-dive fatigue.

By learning to breathe enriched air with oxygen levels up to 40%, you absorb less nitrogen during your dive. This allows you to stay underwater longer—especially at depths between 15 and 30 meters—and get back in the water sooner for your next adventure.

Why Take This Course?

At XR Explorers, we strongly recommend combining this course with your Open Water Diver training. It is absolutely essential for:

  • Repetitive Dives: Perfect for liveaboards or dive holidays where you do 3-4 dives a day.
  • Photography: Gives you more allowable bottom time to get the perfect shot.
  • Safety: Increases your safety margins by reducing your overall nitrogen loading.

What You Will Learn

We train you using the DIR (Doing It Right) philosophy, ensuring you understand not just the benefits, but the strict safety protocols of enriched air. This course combines classroom learning with 2 Open Water Dives to put your new knowledge to the test.

  • Physiology: Understanding the benefits and risks of higher oxygen concentrations.
  • Gas Analysis: Hands-on practice properly analyzing your nitrox cylinders using an oxygen analyzer.
  • Dive Planning: How to calculate Maximum Operating Depth (MOD) and manage oxygen exposure.
  • Computer Setup: Learning to accurately adjust your personal dive computer settings for EANx mixtures.
