SSI Wreck Diving – External Survey & Safety

Course Details

Explore History Beneath the Waves.

There’s nothing quite like dropping onto a shipwreck for the first time. The structure rising up from the seafloor, the history behind it, and the marine life that’s made it home—it’s like diving through a time capsule. But wrecks demand absolute respect and spatial awareness.

The SSI Wreck Diving Course at XR Explorers gives you the crucial skills to explore these structures safely, ensuring you can manage the unique risks of overhead environments and entanglement hazards.

The XR Explorers Standard: Serious Skills

We don't teach wreck diving as just a "sightseeing" trip. Guided by the DIR (Doing It Right) philosophy, we treat it as a rigorous technical discipline. To maximize your safety and mental clarity while navigating these structures, both of your training dives will be conducted using Nitrox 32% gas at no additional charge, with all boat charter fees covered.

  • Hazard Awareness: Learn to spot and avoid invisible fishing nets, sharp metal edges, and unstable, collapsing structures.
  • Anti-Silt Techniques: Mastering your modified frog kicks and horizontal trim so you don't kick up sediment and ruin the visibility for your team.
  • Navigation: How to maintain orientation on a confusing, broken structure.

Technique Focus (No Penetration)

While this course focuses strictly on non-penetration external exploration, we prepare you for the future of technical wreck diving.

  • Line Work: If conditions allow, we introduce the basics of running a primary guideline outside the wreck.
  • Light Communication: Using your primary torch to signal your team in dark, shadowed areas of the hull.
  • Decision Making: Knowing when to stay out and turn the dive is the most important skill of all.

Wreck Team Bonus: 10% Cashback!

Wreck diving requires precise teamwork and communication. We offer a 10% cashback bonus on your tuition when you enroll with your dive buddy. This cashback is credited to your XR Explorers account and is perfect for purchasing your own primary reels, cutting tools, or high-powered dive lights!

*Terms apply: Cashback credit is valid for 1 month (30 days) from the date of issue.

Regional Training (GCC-Wide)

The Arabian Gulf is home to numerous fascinating artificial reefs and sunken wrecks. Whether you are diving the local wrecks in Kuwait or UAE, or planning a trip to Dubai or Saudi Arabia (KSA), this certification ensures you are a safe, competent buddy on any wreck site.

Before taking sidemount, I thought twin tank is enough. However excellent training and experience change my mind. Special thanks to the best instructor “Yehia” 👌👌👌

Thank you, Hamad! I love hearing that. Twinsets are fantastic, but Sidemount definitely opens up a whole new world of flexibility and logistics. I am really glad we could change your mind and add another tool to your toolbox. Thanks for the trust and the kind words!

I’m proud to share that I’ve successfully completed my Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) course under the guidance of Captain Yehia.

This course wasn’t just about riding a scooter — it was about mastering control, precision, team coordination, and understanding the true potential of underwater mobility. Captain Yehia’s approach combined safety, fun, and technical excellence in a way that elevated the entire experience.

From perfecting neutral buoyancy while maneuvering to executing complex drills with calm and confidence, every moment added depth to my skills and awareness as a diver. His patience, keen eye for detail, and real-time feedback made a huge difference.

This is one more step in my technical diving journey — and with mentors like Yehia, the path forward feels both challenging and inspiring.

Next stop: deeper dives, longer bottom times, and more advanced missions.

Thank you for such a thoughtful review, Abdulrahman! You nailed the most important takeaway—that a DPV is a precision tool for the team, not just a ride. Watching you execute those complex drills while maintaining your buoyancy and awareness was impressive. I am honored to be part of your journey, and I am definitely ready when you are for those 'advanced missions.' Let’s get back in the water!

I really enjoyed this training course and would recommend it to other divers who want to build real confidence. The instructor was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making sure everyone understood why we were doing each skill.

Thank you! I truly believe that understanding the 'why' behind a skill is just as important as the skill itself. That knowledge is where real confidence comes from. It was a pleasure having you in the class—keep applying what you learned!
