But moving water demands absolute respect. The SSI Waves, Tides & Currents Course gives you the intelligence and technical skills to handle dynamic ocean conditions without stress.

The XR Explorers Approach: DIR & Reading the Water

At XR Explorers, we don't fight the ocean; we teach you how to use the environment to your advantage. Under our DIR (Doing It Right) philosophy, maintaining a highly streamlined, clutter-free equipment configuration is vital to reducing drag in strong currents. To maximize your safety and mental clarity while task-loading in moving water, both of your training dives will be conducted using Nitrox 32% gas at no additional charge, and boat access is fully covered.

• Drift Logic: Learn to plan drift dives so the current does all the propulsion work for you.
• Surf & Surge: Master the timing of shore entries—getting through the crashing "break zone" safely without losing gear or your dignity.
• Team Awareness: How to stay tightly grouped with your buddy when the water is rapidly moving you both.

Essential Skills for Complex Environments

This course focuses on keeping things simple, streamlined, and safe in highly energetic environments.

• SMB Deployment: A strictly mandatory skill for drift diving. You will practice safely deploying your Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) from depth so the live boat can track your team over long distances.
• Navigation: Reading the reef structure and current direction to anticipate and avoid dangerous "down-currents."
• Pick-Up Procedures: Safely surfacing as a team and boarding a live (moving) boat in choppy surface water.

The Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman are famous for their powerful tidal movements. Whether you are diving the unpredictable Kubbar Island currents right here in Kuwait or the UAE, or planning an advanced drift diving trip to Oman or Dubai, this course opens up an entirely new world of high-energy dive sites.
