Doubles Primer

The Doubles Primer is a one-day course designed to help certified divers transition from single tank to double tank diving using GUE's standardized configuration. It covers equipment setup, valve drills, buoyancy, trim, and team diving skills.

This course is ideal for any certified diver looking to develop foundational doubles skills—whether to increase gas capacity for longer dives or prepare for GUE Rec/Tech Fundamentals, Rec 2, or Tech 1.

No. This course is intended for divers new to the doubles configuration or those looking to refine their existing skills.

The course is completed in one day and includes at least 8 hours of instruction, land drills, and a minimum of two in-water dives.

You’ll learn how to assemble and adjust a double tank system, manage valve drills, improve buoyancy and trim, conduct gas checks, and develop team protocols using the GUE EDGE procedure.

You must demonstrate safe diving practices, proper buoyancy and trim, regulator exchange, mask skills, propulsion techniques, situational awareness, and proficiency in doubles-specific valve drills.

Yes. Upon successful completion, you will receive a GUE Doubles Primer certification.

The training dives are conducted to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet) and always within no-decompression limits.

Smoking negatively affects cardiovascular and pulmonary systems, significantly increasing diving-related risks.

You’ll need a GUE-standard double tank setup, long hose primary and necklaced backup regulators, backplate and wing BCD, rigid fins, depth/time device, and appropriate exposure protection. Backup masks and SMBs are not required for this course.

Yes. This course builds the essential comfort, configuration knowledge, and valve skills that are directly applicable to advanced GUE programs like Fundamentals, Rec 2, and Tech 1.
