Explore the Unknown: SSI Night & Limited Visibility Course

If you’ve never been on a night dive, you’re in for something completely different. The underwater world comes alive in a whole new way when the sun goes down. Colors pop, creatures you’d never see during the day come out of hiding, and the feeling of floating in the dark with just your dive light to guide you is pure magic. But night diving also comes with its challenges—and that’s where the SSI Night & Limited Visibility Course comes in.

This course teaches you how to dive safely and confidently when the light is low, whether it’s a night dive or you’re dealing with murky conditions. At XR Explorers, we go beyond the basics. We focus on team diving strategies, because when visibility is limited, sticking together and communicating clearly becomes even more important. You’ll learn how to use your light as a signaling tool, stay in touch with your buddy, and keep track of your position in the water—even when you can’t see much around you.

We’ll show you how to handle real-world situations like losing visual contact with your team, managing a light failure, and navigating with almost zero reference points. You’ll practice using primary and backup lights, adjusting your buoyancy to avoid kicking up silt, and staying calm if things don’t go as planned.

The best part? Once you’re comfortable diving in these conditions, you’ll open the door to a whole new side of diving. You’ll be ready to explore deeper wrecks, dive in lakes and rivers where visibility is limited, and of course, enjoy the incredible night dives that most divers never experience.

- Academic Sessions: 1 theory session
- Open Water Dives: 2 night or low-visibility dives

Prerequisites

- Must hold an Open Water Diver (or higher) certification
- Minimum age: 10 years
- Solid buoyancy and basic navigation skills are recommended to get the most out of it
