Lead with Confidence—SSI Dive Guide Course by XR Explorers
The XR Explorers Dive Guide Course isn’t just about guiding dives—it’s about leading by example and becoming a true ambassador for safe, team-oriented diving. This isn’t a course you’ll find anywhere else, created exclusively in the DIR philosophy and configuration. At XR Explorers, DIR isn’t optional—it’s fundamental. This is the system we've trusted for years, and it's at the heart of every dive we make.
This course is built for divers who aspire to be true leaders, not just dive supervisors. You will develop rock-solid leadership skills, precise buoyancy, perfect trim, advanced gas management, exceptional situational awareness, and disciplined team protocols. Whether you’re guiding fun dives or handling challenging scenarios, you'll learn how to effectively manage your team, lead with confidence, respond decisively to emergencies, and ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone diving with you.
Expect rigorous training—because leadership demands it. This isn't a quick certification course found elsewhere. At XR Explorers, our standards are set intentionally high. You'll spend at least 10 full days with us, though training often extends to 20 days or even a month, depending on your schedule and weather conditions. Your days will be intense, with extensive theory sessions and focused, rigorous in-water practice. We don't certify guides who meet the bare minimum; we certify leaders who truly earn it, and we will make sure that you get there.
Throughout this program, you’ll gain the knowledge and skills to use and manage DIR equipment configurations, execute team diving protocols, and maintain consistent and reliable team communication. You’ll also master the fundamentals of emergency procedures, dive planning, and leadership—both underwater and on the surface.
At XR Explorers, we don’t produce dive guides who just follow the crowd. We build leaders with solid foundations, a deep respect for the responsibility they carry, and an unwavering commitment to safety. This course is ideal for divers ready to become role models and professionals within the global diving community.
Upon successful completion of this course, you’ll earn your SSI Dive Guide certification, the first professional-level certification in SSI’s Pro program. From here, you can upgrade to SSI Divemaster by completing the Science of Diving Course (if you haven’t already), and meeting the required dive experience of 60 logged dives and 40 hours of dive time (which you will definitely do during the class). The Divemaster level is your next big step, opening doors to assistant instructor training and beyond. We’re here to guide you every step of the way as you progress into professional education and technical diving .
