Technical Fundamentals

It’s a four-day, advanced-level course designed to prepare experienced divers for GUE’s cave, rebreather, or technical training. The course emphasizes trim, buoyancy, propulsion, situational awareness, and team diving procedures in a double tank configuration.

This course is for experienced divers seeking to enter GUE’s technical, CCR, or cave training paths. It’s also suited for any diver looking to refine their skills and operate at a higher standard—regardless of future training goals.

Technical Fundamentals includes more in-water dives, greater performance expectations, and stricter prerequisites. It is a direct preparation for technical and cave-level programs, whereas Basic Fundamentals serves as a general skills-building gateway into the GUE system.

This course must be completed using a double tank configuration, set up to GUE’s standardized equipment specifications. Single tank setups are not allowed.

You’ll train in trim, buoyancy, backward kick, helicopter turns, valve drills, gas sharing, team protocols, SMB deployment, rescue introduction, and light handling. You’ll also review nitrox theory and ascent procedures tailored for technical diving.

It includes at least four days of training, a minimum of eight in-water dives, 24+ hours of instruction, land drills, and theory via GUE’s adaptive online platform.

Yes. The course includes nitrox theory, analysis, and planning. You will be certified to use nitrox for recreational no-decompression diving.

Technical Fundamentals prepares you for GUE Tech 1, CCR 1, and Cave 1. It also raises your personal skill level to perform dives with higher control, safety, and precision—even outside of technical contexts.
